Robbie Price (issue 107)

Son of a stock car racer himself, Wilroc veteran Randy Price began racing at Western Speedway at the age 16. By the time his son Robbie turned 16 the third-generation driver already had kicked off his eighth season. “I asked him if he wanted to race and he said yes,” Randy recalls. “I can’t stop him now – it’s all he talks about. He lives for racing.”

Brandon Berg (Issue 104)

Brandon Berg got his first taste of the racing community working on Seth Bergman’s car after the 2011 season.

“I was just wrenching and cleaning the car, but it was fun,” Brandon recalls of helping out during the off-season. “I saw how everything worked.”

Dirt Cup 2013

With a “super moon” overhead, Jonathan Allard bested the 410 field and nabbed his fourth Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup title as the clock rolled into the wee hours of June 23. Tyler Ketchum (issue 103)

Tyler Ketchum from Burlington, Wash., took up Hornets racing when nearby Skagit Speedway first added the class in 2005. Decades earlier Tyler’s father Ken helped turn wrenches for sprint car driver Jerry Edson in the late ’70s.

Shane Vaillant and Luke Didiuk (issue 102)

At the family’s Kaitrin Stables, Shane Vaillant enjoys saddling up to ride on of their three thoroughbred horses. On Saturday nights, Shane belts up for a little more horsepower behind the wheel of the No. 8 sprint car. Luke Didiuk of Coquitlam, BC, also travels south of the border to race a sprint car with the Dyer 9a Motorsports team along with his father-in-law Steve Dyer.

Reece Goetz (issue 100)

The 2011 season will go down as the year that 16-year-old Reece Goetz dominated the standings in the Midget ranks. Between April and September the young driver out of Snohomish, Wash., competed at Northwest dirt tracks Deming, Grays Harbor, Skagit, Cottage Grove, and on the asphalt at Evergreen Speedway.
