ITWeekly
Northwest Motorsports Newspaper

Welcome to ITWeekly: "The kind of racing newspaper every driver wants to read, and every motorsports business wants to advertise in."

As I mentioned in a response to an e-mail received in 2006, there's good news for the Northwest motorsports community. That April, Rattlesden Productions launched ITWeekly, a newspaper for the racing scene in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. For 2008, we have extended the editorial deadline so we expect to have even better representation from our local venues and racing groups. Make sure to encourage your local promoter to make arrangements for a track writer and track photographer to contribute material for this great weekly publication.

Email we received in early 2006
As we prepared to launch ITWeekly in the spring of 2006, I received an e-mail that included this comment about Inside Track, that hit close to home:

"Your magazine [INSIDE TRACK] is great but it's a little Washington State-centric.  It would be great if this could grow into a replacement for the late Racing Wheels publication."

My response was as follows:

It is funny that you should mention those observations. You are exactly right on both counts.

A couple of years ago Inside Track (the features magazine) was refocused to be primarily about the tracks in the Puget Sound area because those were the tracks that I was actually visiting on a regular basis. I still tried to put as much in about the whole Northwest as possible, but admittedly it was mainly feature stories from Western Washington.

But wait! The good news is that with the announcement that Racing Wheels was folding in December, we decided that a replacement indeed was in order. But we wanted one that was about all the tracks in the Northwest (Washington, Idaho, Oregon) and we could do without the California tracks and other distant speedways. After three months of hurried planning, I posted an announcement on the website a few weeks ago that we will be launching ITWeekly in April. Letters to the track owners already have gone out (this last week) encouraging them to make arrangements for a track writer and photographer to help provide content much the way Racing Wheels did.

ITWeekly will be less about driver features (that's what Inside Track has been doing since 1994) and more about timely recaps of events at the tracks throughout the Northwest. Of course, we were saddened to learn of Racing Wheels' closing after 44 years-- it is hard to watch a longtime icon pass, but we hope that ITWeekly can not only fill the void, but be a great new addition specifically catered to this region.

My philosophy for ITWeekly is: "The kind of racing publication that every driver wants to read and every motorsports business wants to advertise in."

Look for it to have the same professional look and feel that Inside Track has, but on a weekly basis. I am wrapping up some new information about ITWeekly to put on the website, but I've been a little busy getting the latest edition of Inside Track in the mail.

Hope this is enough to whet your appetite for the good things to come,
