8040 Steam Engine

This is the second example of the 8040 2-4-2 steam engine in my collection, so I will repeat some of the description from my other example.

The books list the 8040 2-4-2 steam engine as being produced with the Nickel Plate roadname in 1970-72. They also list an uncatalogued example produced in 1971 as the Canadian National 2-4-2. My train has no markings to indicate which of the two it would be.

The wheels and some parts of the motor are showing signs of oxidation. The plastic body shell is considerably lighter than its die-cast cousins. There also is a traction-assisting band on one of the main drive wheels.
