242 Steam Engine

Lionels steam engine No. 242 could only be a... 2-4-2. The switch is at the top of the boiler about halfway back. The body is plastic and in great shape. Looks like someone brushed it once on the roof and it left a small scuff mark, but otherwise very nice. Black plastic motor case looks more realistic than the bright nickel casing on many trains, which tended to look like big mirrored panels between the drive wheels. This engine was sold paired with a tender–either 1060T or 1062T–which I probably also have in my collection.
